Introducing R-Serve for Confluence: Read Your Documentation Without Having to Depend on Confluence

Out Interactive product tour shows how HYCU R-Serve for Confluence builds a browsable offline copy from Confluence backups.

In our recent update on R-Cloud for Atlassian, a particularly significant new feature is the introduction of HYCU R-Serve for Confluence. R-Serve turns your Confluence backups into a readable, offline copy of your content that your teams can open in any browser, so the documentation they rely on stays within reach even when Confluence is not.

Your most important documentation lives in Confluence

Confluence is where many teams keep the knowledge they need to do their jobs. Runbooks, how-to guides, troubleshooting steps, and incident response plans often live there, right next to the everyday documentation that keeps projects moving.

Most of the time, this works well. But unanticipated interruptions in service happen. Your teams may not be able to sign in. Your content may be temporarily inaccessible. And sometimes, the service itself may be unavailable for hours or even longer. When that happens, the documentation your teams depend on is out of reach.

Some of that documentation is exactly what teams reach for when something goes wrong. If it lives only in Confluence, it is only as available as Confluence is.

Why a backup alone is not enough

Having a backup of your Confluence data is important. It lets you restore your content to your Confluence site after data loss. What if your teams need that content while Confluence itself is unavailable? A backup is built for recovery, not for reading. Raw backup data is not something a person can open and use in the middle of an incident.

What teams need during a disruption is a copy of their documentation that does not depend on the application being available, and that people can actually read.

What is R-Serve for Confluence?

R-Serve for Confluence takes your Confluence backup data and turns it into a browsable, offline copy of your content. Your spaces, pages, and blog posts are reproduced as simple HTML files, with every page rendered with its formatting and attachments intact.

The offline copy comes with a searchable, Confluence-style index of all your spaces, pages, and blog posts, so people can quickly find what they are looking for. It opens in any browser. The people reading it do not need a Confluence login.

See how it works in this short interactive product tour.

How can R-Serve for Confluence help you?

  • Keep critical documentation within reach

When Confluence is unavailable, your teams can still open the documentation they rely on. That includes the steps they need to recover from the disruption itself.

  • Make your backups useful during a disruption

R-Serve turns backup data into documentation your teams can use. Your backups now help you during a disruption, and not only after it.

  • Keep your live Confluence untouched

Building the offline copy is read-only with respect to your live Confluence. Nothing is written back into your Confluence environment. The offline copy reflects your content as of the backup it was built from. To keep it current, you can rebuild it on a regular schedule.
