Dynamics 365 Now Available in the HYCU Marketplace
Microsoft Dynamics 365 is the operational backbone for over 300,000 organizations worldwide. But despite how much business-critical data lives inside it, purpose-built data protection for Dynamics 365 has remained underserved and largely absent from most organizations' protection strategies. Today, we are excited to announce the general availability of HYCU R-Cloud for Dynamics 365.
Why Dynamics 365 Data Protection Is Complex
Dynamics 365 is where customer relationships are managed, service commitments are tracked, and field operations are coordinated. For organizations that depend on it, it's the operational backbone of the business. But the same characteristics that make it powerful also make it genuinely difficult to protect.
- Your Data Is More Interconnected Than You Think. Dynamics 365 is built on a web of records, relationships, workflows, configurations, and customizations that are all connected and all dependent on each other. When something goes wrong, the impact rarely stops at the record that was lost.
- When Something Goes Wrong, the Damage Spreads. A bulk delete triggered by a bad automation. A failed integration that overwrites data at scale. A misconfigured retention policy that silently removes records before anyone notices. In each case, the damage extends beyond the immediate loss. Business processes stall, customers churn, and compliance obligations become harder to meet. And the effort required to manually rebuild what was lost is invariably slow, error-prone, and disruptive.
- Customizations Add Another Layer of Risk. Most organizations don't run Dynamics 365 out of the box. Over time, they build on top of it: custom fields, custom tables, tailored workflows, modified forms, and business rules that reflect how their specific operation works. These customizations represent significant investment in time, design, and institutional knowledge. When those customizations are lost, recreating them from memory is not really a feasible recovery strategy.
Where Microsoft Native Data Protection Falls Short
Microsoft is responsible for keeping the Dynamics 365 platform running. The data inside it is the customer's responsibility. Microsoft's built-in capabilities have real limitations:
- Retention is capped at 28 days and cannot be extended
- Recovery is only possible at the environment level, not at the record or table level
- There is no granular path to recovering individual records, relationships, or configurations
- A full environment restore takes production offline and overwrites all changes made after the restore point
These capabilities cover some scenarios, but they are not a substitute for a purpose-built data protection solution.
Real Incident: One Accidental Deletion and a Multi-Day Recovery
A Microsoft consultancy accidentally deleted records from a production Dataverse environment and attempted a point-in-time rollback. The problem: Microsoft's environment backup is all or nothing. Rolling back meant wiping hours of legitimate changes made by every other user in the system. The only alternative was restoring to a non-production environment, manually extracting records, and re-importing them in the correct sequence to preserve relationship links. It was one accidental deletion, but the recovery process took days.
HYCU R-Cloud for Microsoft Dynamics 365
Incidents like this happen more often than most organizations expect. HYCU R-Cloud for Dynamics 365 is built to handle them. Here is what that means in practice:
- Complete application context protection: Most solutions protect just records. HYCU protects everything around them too: relationships, metadata, navigation schema, customizations, attachments. What comes back is a working system, not a partial one.
- Relationship-aware recovery: Referential integrity is preserved across lookups and many-to-many relationships, so your data is connected and usable from the moment it is recovered. For example, when you recover an account, the opportunities, contacts, and activities linked to it come back with it.
- Recovery at any level: Whether you need one record, one table, or an entire environment, HYCU handles it from the same platform. You are not forced to choose between precision and scope.
- Storage-level immutability: Backups are stored with immutability enforced at the storage level, meaning they cannot be altered or deleted by ransomware, a malicious insider, or anyone else.
- Your storage, your control: Your backups live in the storage you own and manage. Choose any S3-compatible target including AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Storage, or use Dell DDVE as a backup target and benefit from its industry-leading deduplication and compression to reduce egress costs and storage footprint.
- Flexible retention: You decide how long your backups are kept. There is no 28-day ceiling, no artificial constraint tied to what Microsoft's platform allows.
- Unified Microsoft protection: Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, GitHub, Entra ID, and Azure services all protected from one platform, under one policy framework, with one place to manage recovery.
Dynamics 365 deserves the same level of data protection as any other mission-critical system in your organization.
