Safer Data for a Safer AI World: Why I Joined HYCU

When I left Google Cloud, I wrote that agentic AI would fundamentally change how organizations build, secure, and operate. I said that's where I'd focus next. 

It turned out to be HYCU. 

A few months ago, I joined HYCU as Chief Product Officer. I'm grateful to Simon Taylor for the trust he placed in me to help lead product at this moment in the company's growth. 

Since joining, I've spent time with our teams across the US, EMEA, and APAC, meeting customers and partners across every region we serve. One theme kept emerging from those conversations, no matter the geography or industry: the future of AI depends on the resilience of the data it acts on. 

The Speed Problem Nobody Priced In 

Applications used to be where people worked. Increasingly, they're where agents work. 

Agents have identities, permissions, and the ability to operate at machine speed. They can access data, update records, trigger workflows, and make decisions across multiple systems in seconds. 

The visibility gap this creates isn't new. Security and IT teams have talked about visibility gaps for years. What's new is the speed at which those gaps now matter. 

Humans leave time to catch mistakes. Agents don't. A person who fat-fingers a permission change or deletes the wrong record usually notices, or a colleague does, before the damage compounds. An agent acting on bad logic or a bad instruction can touch dozens of systems before anyone realizes something is wrong. 

That is why resilience is becoming about much more than backup and recovery. Organizations now need the ability to:

• Know who or what changed it 
• Recover with confidence 
• Maintain trust in their data 

Why HYCU

What excites me most is joining a company uniquely positioned for this shift. Long before agentic AI became the industry's next frontier, HYCU was building leadership in SaaS data resilience, earning recognition from industry analysts while helping thousands of customers protect the systems that run their businesses every day. 

The mission resonates with me personally: safer data for a safer AI world. 

We're still early in this transformation. But one thing is becoming clear. The future of AI won't just depend on what agents can do. It will depend on what organizations can see, protect, recover, and trust.
