Nothing Is Unrecoverable: Complete Recovery Coverage for iManage Data

Original document numbers, versions and permissions intact. See how HYCU covers every iManage Cloud recovery scenario in one solution.

Organizations don't get to choose how things go wrong. One day it's a single agreement someone needs back before a deadline. Another day it's an integration that corrupts thousands of documents overnight. Occasionally the data is fine, but the problem is reaching it. None of this is rare: in HYCU's 2025 State of SaaS Resilience Report, 61% of IT leaders reported SaaS data loss or disruption in the previous 12 months.

iManage Cloud is engineered for resilience, with a proven 99.9% availability record. More than 4,000 organizations in over 65 countries run on iManage, including 79% of the Am Law 100. Its built-in recovery options are designed for everyday mistakes. Resilience beyond that comes from an independent copy of your own, held outside the platform and under your control.

That's the layer HYCU adds: complete recovery coverage for iManage Cloud data, across three dimensions: precision, scale, and continuity.

Precision: The Right Document, Back Where It Belongs

Most everyday incidents are small and specific. A document purged after the Trash retention window closed, a retention rule that removed something a team still needed, a clean-up job that took more than it should have, or an agreement needed as it stood three months ago, not as it stands today.

Small doesn't mean minor. One missing document can hold up a filing, a closing, or an audit. HYCU restores documents and folder contents straight back into the source iManage library from any previous restore point within your retention period, whether the document went missing last week or years ago. All versions come back, along with access settings and metadata. Documents keep their original document and version numbers, so the links and references pointing to them still work.

That matters more than you think. The real cost of a missing document is rarely the file itself. It's the rebuilding: reapplying security, re-tagging, working out who should see what, and making sure nothing confidential ends up in front of the wrong person. With access and metadata preserved, there's nothing to rebuild.

Restore also retires the old routine of exporting a copy and re-uploading it manually. Your own administrators run restores from the HYCU console in a few clicks, and documents land back in iManage, where people expect to find them.

Scale: An Independent Copy You Own and Control

Some incidents are bigger than one document: corruption that spreads across a library, or a mass deletion, accidental or deliberate, that clears out more than anyone could rebuild by hand. At the far end sits ransomware, where the average ransom demand for law firms runs to $2.5 million.

At this scale, what counts is where your copy lives and who controls it. HYCU keeps an independent copy of your iManage Cloud data in storage you own, under your tenant, your subscription, and your credentials. That can be Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, or other S3-compatible storage. Because the copy sits outside the primary environment, it's out of the path of damage spreading through production.

Your copy is encrypted in transit and at rest, with customer-managed or HYCU-managed keys. It can also be made immutable and WORM-enabled, using an object-level lock in your own storage that you configure and control. In short, it stays safe, under your control, and available whenever you need it.

From that copy, you recover outside the iManage environment, granularly or in bulk. You can export entire libraries, workspaces, folders, or individual documents with all file versions, metadata, and security settings, so access doesn't have to be pieced back together either. You decide what comes back, where it goes, and when. That's what recovery at this scale needs.

The same copy handles the other demands that come with scale. It can produce a complete set for an auditor, a regulator, or outside counsel. It keeps data beyond the platform's retention window. And it helps you meet data residency and sovereignty requirements.

Continuity: A Second Path to Your Data, Always On and Ready

Recovery protects against data loss. Continuous access protects immediate productivity. Sometimes nothing is lost at all, and the issue is simply reaching the data.

R-Serve, HYCU's continuous access layer, gives your organization a second, independent path to its iManage Cloud data. It runs as an always-on web service inside your own cloud infrastructure. It draws on the protected copy HYCU already maintains.

If the primary path to that data is temporarily unavailable, whether because of underlying cloud infrastructure or a large-scale incident, users sign in with the same single sign-on they already use for iManage Cloud, such as Microsoft Entra ID. They reach the documents they own and operate in iManage. Administrators keep full library visibility, and every sign-in and download is logged. Users download what they need, work locally, and bring finished work back into iManage, which remains the system of record.

Two hours without access to matters can cost more than many incidents do. Independent HYCU analysis of industry billing rates and downtime scenarios across professional services firms puts that cost at roughly $458,000 in lost billable opportunity. That's for a 200-attorney law firm billing a typical $1,145 an hour. Other industries will run different numbers. The point holds.

One Solution, Not Three Tools

Precision, scale, and continuity often mean separate tools, separate contracts, and separate copies of the data. With HYCU, it's one solution. Restore, export, and continuous access all draw on the same protected copy. R-Serve is included with HYCU's protection for iManage Cloud at no additional cost, so there's no second contract and no separate purchase. Connecting to iManage Cloud takes an API token, with no agents to deploy. Everything runs from the same console as more than 100 other workloads.

However It Goes Wrong, There's a Way Back

One document or an entire library. A clean-up job gone too far or a ransomware event. Data that's gone, or data that's just out of reach for a while. HYCU gives iManage Cloud customers complete coverage for all of it. Nothing is unrecoverable.
