Committed to Breaking the Bias This International Women’s Day

Today marks the annual celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, International Women’s Day. The day is recognized in many ways worldwide, as a public holiday in numerous countries and observed socially, locally in a number of others. Each year, the United Nations observes the day in connection with a theme and campaign.

This year’s theme is centered on imagining a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. If we all work together, collectively we can #BreakTheBias.

At HYCU, we are fortunate that many at the company work daily to promote and foster an environment that celebrates diversity, is equitably and inclusive. We are blessed to have many across all departments and disciplines that work tirelessly on making a difference for a gender equal world. We are particularly blessed to have women role models from within the Executive Leadership Team all the way down to entry level positions in engineering.

We are also taking a different approach to celebrate this year. Starting today, across our social channels, you will see and hear HYCU women’s voices encouraging the commitment to call out bias, smash stereotypes, break inequality and reject discrimination to help form a gender equal world.

To do that, we asked each a number of questions:

·      How has HYCU helped in the growth of your career?

·      What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

·      How should women support other women in their organizations?

·      Do you have a woman leader as a mentor or someone who inspired you and why?

You'll see a few of these faces and voices captured here and on our social channels in celebration of this year’s Day.

The response to participate this year, as we would have anticipated, was overwhelming. As we recognize our women leaders, we also use today and the rest of the month to recognize the work that is being done globally to #BreaktheBias. We are so proud of everything our women leaders do, along with the support and collaboration from everyone at HYCU, to promote gender equality and make HYCU the exceptional company it is today. As we strongly feel, it’s time to turn one important day and theme to celebrate beyond one, single day. Help us celebrate for the rest of this month by following us at @hycuinc and connecting with us at LinkedIn.
