There Are Times

March 11, 2020

There are times when you’re running a company that the odds may feel insurmountable

It’s not often talked about but the reality is that all founders and CEOs feel completely overwhelmed at one point in time or another. The fact that social media may paint a more varnished version of reality aside.

The challenge, as I see it, is not to avoid this feeling but instead to embrace it, and recognize it:

  1. Building a company isn’t easy.
  2. Market conditions are out of your control (like a certain pandemic.)
  3. What is within your sphere of control is the ability to focus on your customers, and ensure that they are genuinely getting value out of your product or service.

It’s for this last point that I am writing this post. People are scared right now about so many things, whether it is COVID-19 or the environment or cyberattacks. Recently, many of us at HYCU had an opportunity to take a really challenging situation a client found themselves in and leverage our technology to bring that customer to safety. The issue our customer faced will be familiar to many of us in IT, ransomware. A truly horrific and potentially debilitating cyber attack was thwarted when the customer used HYCU’s built for purpose backup technology to get back their data without paying criminals for its safe return.

So, yes there are hard days, challenging days, but when your focus is on customer success and you get to see your team and products provide true value, that’s when it all falls into place. That’s when you remember why you set out on this journey to begin with. There is no feeling like it in the world.

I’m happy to share a great write up of this particular customer situation written by DCIG.

I’d love for you to check it out and see how HYCU was able to thwart the bad guys and ensure that ransomware didn’t turn into a major issue for our customer.

Thanks to all of the great people at HYCU who supported these efforts:

Mike Taylor, Shreesha Pai Manoor, Don Jennings, Subbiah Sundaram and Miran Fučka!
