Protecting Nutanix with HYCU

April 19, 2018

On Thursday, April 12, we hosted a Webinar to recap our recent launch of HYCU, Inc. along with the latest enhancements of HYCU Data Protection for Nutanix. The Webinar, moderated by our inside sales leader Dan Mack, featured CEO Simon Taylor and VP Products Subbiah Sundaram. If you missed it, you can hear a replay of the Webinar here.

Thank you to all who attended! We appreciate your time and continued interest in the only purpose-built data protection for Nutanix Enterprise Cloud customers and partners!

The goal of the Webinar, in addition to providing insights to how we are moving HYCU for Nutanix forward from a product development perspective, was to illustrate how you can best align your Nutanix investment efforts with the right backup and recovery software solution. Likely, you purchased Nutanix to simplify how to apply compute, network and storage resources for your applications so the last thing we would expect is that your data protection solution should be anything but complementary to that.

Like our approach to data protection for Nutanix, I won’t duplicate efforts. Please do take the time to review the replay. It’s full of great insights and both Simon and Subbiah do a great job of sharing what makes us different from what else is available in the market along with a real time demo. And yes the Demo Gods were good to all of us!

What I wanted to call out were the four polling questions. Bear in mind this is a sampling from the attendees but it provides insight into what customers are doing with data protection within their Nutanix infrastructure. Not necessarily any surprise in terms of answers for the first question, although more than a third are using something other than a traditional or legacy backup solution.

For question two, what was interesting, was it was either all in or still getting the toes wet. 75% of respondents either were doing something with Nutanix or were investing more than a third of their infrastructure on Nutanix. This should also not come as a surprise with Nutanix issuing consistent quarterly results to coincide with this level of interest.

For question three, and again not necessarily a major surprise, many of the most important Microsoft applications run on Nutanix. With more than half of the respondents running Microsoft SQL with Nutanix.

For our final question, more than half of respondents anticipated moving forward with Nutanix in their infrastructure in less than 90 days. If you are one of them, and are planning on attending .NEXT in New Orleans from May 7-10, please make a point of stopping by and saying hey to us. We’re at Booth #G9. We’d be happy to share the latest with you on HYCU for Nutanix. Of course, if you’re looking to make a decision sooner, we’re always available!

Those were just four questions we were interested in learning more as part of the Webinar. Of course, we received numerous additional questions which we’ll tackle in future blog posts. Some of our favorites included, what’s your approach to ROBO environments? Are you agent-based or agentless? Do you support VMware vSphere? Archiving versus backup from a replica, what’s the difference? What if I’m in a mixed environment, can you handle my non-Nutanix virtualized data protection? And many, many more. Stay tuned as we answer those questions and more as they come up. If you can’t wait for a future blog tackling these questions, check out HYCU for yourself at tryhycu.com or there’s more information here including how some of our latest customers are currently using HYCU for Nutanix!
